Stroke is a highly prevalent acute cerebrovascular disease, often accompanied by motor dysfunction. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) as a non-invasive brain stimulation method, has been validated in massive clinical trials for its significant rehabilitation outcome on post-stroke motor dysfunction. However, the underlying neurorehabilitation mechanisms remain unclear. Further research and exploration are needed. This paper reviews the recent developments and the state-of-art of TMS in the field of motor rehabilitation after stroke, focusing on motor function assessment, intervention and the establishment of recovery prediction models, providing a reference for future research endeavors.
